Outside Your House

Outside Your House are the self-styled ‘barely rap’ duo of Faithful Johannes (words) and Jonathan Swift (tunes).

OYH have drawn a cult following from their unorthodox, energetic live shows; usually featuring tribal drumming, toy keyboards, driving bass hits, furniture climbing and sign waving, all enveloping the unique and direct spoken lyrics.

The Durham City combo’s two EPs to date cover subjects from choking on homemade bread and late night moth attacks, to the brotherhood between acne sufferers and the heartbreak in David Attenborough’s pauses. A debut LP is promised for the autumn of 2017 (via Sapien Records and Frux Tapes).

“OYH bring something very special to the party” – Louder Than War

“The epitome of glorious DIY music.” – NARC

“Great tunes” Tom Robinson, 6 Music

Five Pence Game

Five Pence Game is the collaborative side project of Ally Morton (Massa Confusa). Taking influence from the likes of UNKLE, Yourcodename Ismiloblog’s ‘Print Is Dead’ project, Bonobo, and Massive Attack; Ally invites North East artists to co-write tracks in his studio. The songs themselves are recorded in the moment, usually in 1-3 sessions, with little or no preparation. Musicians and vocalists sometimes bring lyrics, a riff, or nothing at all. Ally composes tracks around what is recorded in the session, chopping, looping, manipulating, and often altering the contributors’ original idea.

Ally is currently working on an EP trilogy and will debut some of these collaborative tracks in solo form with bass, electronics and Ableton Live.

“Chilled, instrumental hip hop beats. Think J Dilla, Flying Lotus and Kaytranada”

After a hiatus of nearly two years, Symmatik is back with a new (old) sound. Dusty beats layered with chopped up Fender rhodes samples provide a chilled hip-hop vibe”
