Jane Bown – ‘Exposures’

“Jane Bown has been taking portraits for the Observer newspaper since 1949 and in that time has photographed everyone from Bertrand Russell to the Beatles to Samuel Beckett to the Queen. Working almost exclusively in black and white and with an absolute economy of means, her insightful portraits are immediately recognisable and many have become classics of the genre.”

This is taking place at the Durham Art Gallery from Saturday 14 January to Sunday 19 February 2012. There is an preview this Friday 13th Jan from 6pm
