HQ Renovation: Update 2
February 11th, 2010It’s been a busy few weeks since the first update. We have been going for it almost none stop and when we finally got electricity last week it meant we no longer had an excuse to stop!
The biggest change was probably whilst I was away in Berlin on official Empty Shop business; I came back 3 days ago to find that the insanely dust clad floors had been completely swept and cleaned, pretty impressive given the state they were in and an amazing transition – Kudos to Nick and the many volunteers who spent hours on their knees with a scrubbing brush and a sponge. The dust free environment meant we could finally get round to painting, but my favourite job so far has been filling holes, specifically because of my new favourite DIY essential… expanding foam filler! That stuff is amazing.
Anyway, it’s been pretty intense so far but really good fun – the messy part is always the best and all the people helping out seem to be enjoying it too. So far I estimate* that
- 450 cups of tea have been consumed
- 900 biscuits have been eaten
- The best of Devo has been played 1300 times
And now to bed so I can get some sleep and do it all again tomorrow – night!
p.s – big thanks to Pizza Al Taglio who donated a tray of their awesome pizza slices for us today. Check them out in Durham indoor market or see there facebook page – click here
*please note that estimations have been severely exaggerated… apart from the Devo one. That stands as fact
