Venues

We operate in venues in two ways, a permanent HQ in Durham City Centre and continuing range of empty properties on a temporary basis – we  call these ‘Empty Shop’ followed by the number e.g Empty Shop No.3.

We are always we are working towards the next and are always keen to hear from people who would like to give their empty property (of any description) the Empty Shop treatment. If you would like to talk about the benefits of  working with our organisation in this way, please get in touch.

Other Opportunities

Our HQ building in the centre of  Durham has a large room available to hire as a usable workspace. It can be hired on a half day or full day basis and is suitable for a variety of uses.

Previous Empty Shops

85 North Road, Durham City
Our second collaboration with The Gates Shopping Centre saw us deliver 4 exhibitions in three weeks and offer creative opportunities over throughout the month of November in 2010.

Unit 35b, The Gates Shopping Centre, Durham
The use of this space was very kindly donated by The Gates Shopping Centre and periodically used between June and September 2009.

94c Gilesgate, Durham
This is where it all started. We started work in the December and opened on January 30th to over 150 people, a really overwhelming response and an indication that people wanted this kind of thing. Over the next 5 months we we played host to 13 exhibitions and events.
