Woodnote poster alt webMr. Woodnote, lil rhys & Snareophobe:

>>A gifted saxophonist, beatboxer and looper, Mr. Woodnote is responsible for the whole instrumental part including bouncy beats, funky horns and fat basslines, which he creates live on the spot, Lil Rhys blesses the audience with his rhyming skills.

>>Snareophobe’s music takes influence from global Jungle, Hiphop, Garage, Breakbeat, Dubstep and Drum & Bass music mixing up heavyweight basslines, scratching, samples, loops & FX.

From their notorious street performances to their heavyweight stage shows Mr Woodnote & Lil Rhys ignite their surroundings wherever they play. From Bristol to Bombay the duo have never played the same set twice and regularly collaborate with a host of other musicians, DJs and MCs.

Armed with a saxophone, loop pedals and  whatever else he can get his hands on, Mr Woodnote creates every track anew – live on the spot from scratch – while Lil Rhy adds layers distinctive vocal flavours into the mix. Veterans of every festival between the Fringe and Glastonbury, The Alligator Club sees the duo make their Durham debut alongside guest DJ Snarephobe.

Zero DB, DJ Set
Ninja Tune’s Zero DB will be providing the tunes before the band; even if you’ve only just heard their name, you are sure to have already enjoyed a hard fruit or more of Zero dB’s labour.  From Sun Rah remixes to the BBC World Cup coverage, Zero dB have been concocting a provocative, innovative and addictive brew of hard jazz, electro, latin, hip hop and house, laced throughout with their now signature dirty, heavy basslines.

Outside Your House
We are chuffed to be adding this Durham two piece to the line up, you’ve probably heard them on BBC Radio 6 Music, if not, then you should definitely check them out.

OSOutside Your House are a two man operation.

Faithful Johannes is part spoken word poet, part folk singer, part laid-back rapper with an eye for detail.

Sweet-singing Jonathan Swift‘s musical scrapbook of vinyl samples, live instruments and cut-up beats delivers the pop backdrop.

The melancholy of brass bands, chest pains, beer-offs, weight gain & David Attenborough.

‘Quirky, catchy, unlike anything else doing the rounds right now’ – In Bed With Maradona blog.

‘Full of small town pettiness – I do like them enormously’ – Bob Fischer BBC Tees.

Find The Alligator Club
AC mapThe Alligator Club is a pop up venue, meaning it is temporary and will only exist for a short time. We are taking over an empty shop unit for the duration of this project, and transforming it into the club – please do not confuse this with Empty Shop HQ, our permanent City Centre building.

The address is Unit 1, The Gates Shopping Centre, but please note it is an outside unit, not inside the shopping centre itself. You can find The Alligator Club at the North Road entrance to the shopping centre, opposite the William Headley pub and next to CEX. Look out for our signange or listen for the music.
