TESTT – The Empty Shop Think Tank

TESTT is a platform for action research and pilot programmes relating to the work of Empty Shop CIC.  Incorporating artists, producers, promoters and leaders from the North East art sector TESTT explores the potential of Empty Shop as an organisation, Durham’s cultural ecology and the relationship between the two.

Phase 1 was an 18 month R&D programme of R&D which consisted of discussions, go-and-see visits, partnership working and testing of models, including the establishment of new visual arts venue TESTT Space.

Phase 2 is a forthcoming programme of capacity building and business development that will enable Empty Shop CIC to deliver on the learning and opportunities that have emerged from TESTT Phase 1.

Phase 1 of TESTT was supported by:

  • Arts Council England
  • Durham University
  • Durham County Council
  • Annabel Turpin – Chief Executive, ARC, Stockton Arts Centre
  • Claire Malcolm – Chief Executive, New Writing North
  • Mark Robinson – Director, Thinking Practice
